All the guys...and mommy

Here's a few pictures of me hangin' with the boys...plus one of me and mommy.  These are all from our past week's adventures - Oktoberfest with mommy and daddy, Link Crew Tailgater at the high school, dinner with Maggie's folks, and a day in the woods looking for Chanterelles.

Teething Ring/Rattle

When I was a baby, my great aunt Daisy gave this to me.  My mom never had a chance to engrave it though.  So, now it has been passed down to Luci and has been engraved with her information.  A little hard to see but wanted my mom to take a look.

Saint Lucy

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b4/Saint_Lucy_by_Domenico_di_Pace_Beccafumi.jpg

Yesterday David and I attended a baptism class so that Lucy can be baptized soon.  The man leading the class (it was just the two of us in it) asked us if we knew about Saint Lucy.  We did not.  He said we needed to find out about her and how wonderful she was.  After class, I said to David - "Is there really a Saint Lucy?"  David:  "Of course.  There's a saint pretty much for everyone."  Me:  "Even a Saint Princess or Saint Gaslein?"  David:  "Who are they?  Are those real names?"  Me:  "Yes - Leah had them in kindergarten!"

Anyway, we were watching an episode of Nurse Jackie last night and Jackie's daughter Grace (who just started Catholic school) fills her folks in on Saint Lucy.  She had her eyes plucked out.  Wha what?  Okay, so now we've got to find out more about her!  That was just too freaky to be told to find out about Saint Lucy and then to have the TV show we are watching bring it up.

So...Saint Lucy is the patron saint of the blind.  Her mother had set it up for Lucy to marry a pagan but Lucy vowed her life to Christ.  The angry bridegroom turned her in as a Christian to the governor, and the guards who came to get her could not move her so they took her eyes out with a fork.  This was during the Diocletianic persecution - the last and most severe persecution of Christians.

Week 5

I am now one month old!  Every day I just keep getting bigger and happier!  My smiles are for real now and my mommy and daddy can really make me smile.  When I am on my changing mat and they sing to me or play with me - I get the biggest smiles!  Right now my favorite book is "Snuggle Puppy" and I love it when mommy sings it to me.  Yesterday we got to hear Maggie's mom's version of how she sings it.  Very different from my mommy's.  So this week I got to play with Maggie, I took a bottle from my daddy, and I went to Mama/baby yoga.  Yoga was hard.  It was right when I like to take a nap, so mommy didn't get to do much yoga.  She's says we'll try again this week and see how it goes.  I also started wearing bumGenius diapers.  They are the coolest diapers that mommy washes and puts back on me!  The diapers also help me fill out my 3 month clothes that I am wearing.  They make my booty look big!  I've got green ones on in this picture.  She still has me wear disposables sometimes, like at night or if she has to wash all the diapers.  I'm sleeping about 6-7 hours at night these days.  Mommy really likes that!

Week 4

Well, I am such a busy girl.  Life has yet to slow down!  My mommy and daddy took me to the Oregon Coast for my first overnight trip.  My grandma went with us too.  We took walks on the beach and the sounds of the ocean put me right to sleep.  Mommy and daddy said that was probably some of the best sleep I have had!  They even had time to sit and watch a movie at the beach cottage.  I can't wait to go back.  Grandma left at the end of the week to go back to Maryland, but she will be back for Thanksgiving with Granpa, Unkie Patrick, and Aunt Elise.  Yippee!  I am such a good baby (mommy says so).  I ride in my car seat without complaint and then I get to go out to dinner and sleep the whole time so mommy, daddy, and their friends can enjoy dinner.

Mr. Morella made me cry - just kidding I was hungry.

Week 3

This week my grandma and granpa flew in from Maryland.  I am their first grandchild.  We had a very eventful weekend.  We toured the Bounty of Benton County.  I went to a music show at Tyee where Bon Ton Roulet played.  My friends Rebecca and Dominic are in the band!  All weekend long I was so good being in the car.  On Saturday, we went out to Alsea and got to see a very cool kiln, we went to the fish hatchery and made t-shirts, and then we went to Philomath and did some wine tasting.  On Sunday my granpa left, but we still went touring.  We headed up towards Monmouth and went to the most beautiful garden at Dancing Oaks Nursery.  My dad bought some pretty flowers for me.  After that we did more wine tasting at Airlie and Lumos.  Oh - and my umbilical cord fell off this week!
